The Mexican baritone made his debut in Europe as a laureate of the “Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg” in the role of Dapertutto in “Hoffmanns Erzählungen” from Offenbach. Beside this festival, he was also part of the opera gala together with Edita Gruberova and Klaus Florian Vogt. Martinez was also an ensemble member of the Landestheater Schleswig-Holstein for four years. In addition, he has performed several times at the Gran Teatro de la Habana in Cuba and at the Opera House in Kiel. On stage, he sang roles such as Escamillo, Germont, Sharpless, Marcello, Don Giovanni, Figaro, Conte di Almaviva, Wolfram, Papageno and Conte di Luna. In addition to his vocal training in Hamburg and Bremen, the baritone also received lessons from teachers such as Krisztina Laki, Dieter Schweikart and Enrico Facini. He participated in masterclasses with Monserrat Caballé, Lorenzo Regazzo and Gemma Bertagnolli. Currently, the artist lives in Vienna, where he worked with teachers like the soprano Grace Bumbry and Prof. Gerhard Kahry. In addition to his opera roles, Martinez is regularly heard at concerts in the Orangerie of Schönbrunn Palace.
